Criminal Defense Training Academy 2024

OPD is no longer accepting applications for the upcoming Criminal Defense Training Academy (CDTA) at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA.

Application due date was July 12, 2024. If you would like to request information about next year's CDTA, please contact Geoffrey Hulsey or Sarah Lawson.

Training will take place in-person on September 26-27, 2024 and October 23-25, 2024. Both segments are part of one academy and are required for graduation. This highly interactive program is designed for attorneys who want to improve their public defense and trial advocacy skills! Examples of topics covered are litigating racial issues, client communication, voir dire, cross-examination, and more! CDTA applications are competitive. Selection is based on attorneys who are new to public defense and are from rural jurisdictions that typically lack CLE opportunities.

Those who were selected should have received a registration link. The cost for attending CDTA is $100. Inquiries about financial assistance can be directed to OPD.
