Extraordinary Criminal Justice Costs

This program helps eligible Washington counties recover certain extraordinary criminal justice costs associated with aggravated murder cases under RCW 43.330.190.

How the process works

  1. A county submits a reimbursement petition.
  2. OPD processes the petitions in consultation with the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs.
  3. OPD submits prioritized recommendation to the Legislature.
  4. The Legislature determines which petitions receive funding.
